Our fire feast with Ubuntu Food is now an unmissable annual event. This year we are gathering to celebrate the longest day with a slow, relaxed lunch.

Watch Imke and her team as they skilfully control the fires to add caramelisation and subtle smoke to beautiful ingredients presented on platters to share at long tables. MENU below.

FERNHILL FARM OPEN DAY

We are joining the fun at Fernhill Farm on the Spring Equinox. Come and meet the sheep with their lustrous wool and crazy hairstyles, watch blade shearing demonstrations by champion Andy and a international crew (limbering up for a shearing tournament on Sunday 22nd) and see how the expert wool packers check and roll the fleeces. Jen is a leading light in championing wool as a sustainable and natural material for clothing and brings together spinners, knitters, weavers and natural dyers at a Fibre Experience to showcase their skills . It’s a real family day with food, talks, demonstrations and stalls. Come and find us and try some wine in the bar area in the U-shaped barn.

This is a highlight of the farming year when you can visit an atmospheric sheep farm on ancient land high on the Mendip Hills.

Following last year’s storm cancellation, we are very pleased to be back for our village’s big Christmas event. Louise and Leo from the wonderful Bristol cheese shop L’affinage du Fromage are hosting a night pairing six specially selected cheeses with six Somerset wines from Limeburn Hill and Dunleavy vineyards.

The pair have cheese in their DNA with Louise spending her early years sleeping in the same Gloucestershire room where her great grandparents once made cheeses, and Lou mesmerised by the huge cheddars displayed in his parents Devon deli and cheese stall.

With their love and deep knowledge of all things cheese, we can’t wait to see what they cut for the plate and why. Cheese and wine will also be for sale during the event.

It’s a happy return for us to the warm and welcoming atmosphere of Oak restaurant in Bath for a celebration of harvest.

The menu will be vegetarian, with much of the produce grown in and picked from Oak’s own market garden just outside the city. The courses will be paired with our biodynamic natural wines and spirits with a few surprises to get the chefs’ creatives juices flowing.

Temperley London, the fashion house of West Country designer Alice Temperley, is opening its gorgeous courtyard in Ilminster for a post-shopping tasting of wine and cheese with an all-Somerset theme.
